Glass-scriber
Glass-scriber

For the production of substrates for LCD and plasma screens, the glass industry requires small cutting, respectively scribing tools. These cutting tools, named "glass scribers" feature as main quality factor a maximum concentricity tolerance of 0.002 mm. The quality of the bore plays an important role and represents the basis for the following processing of the cut. Two processing steps meet the competence of Microcut

  1)   Diameter calibration and shaping of the bore
  2)   Grinding of the cutting edge

The necessary grinding direction places special requirements on the workpiece fixtures. A fully automatic process was realized by the implementation of a 6-axes robot. The process can be applied for workpieces made of tungsten carbide and polycrystalline diamond (PKD).

Microcut Ltd can offer the ideal solution for the complete machining process of Glass Scribers.
